A new Bob Dylan concert film titled "Trouble No More" will premiere at the 2017 New York Film Festival. Directed by Jennifer Lebeau (previously known for her work with Paul Simon, Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand), the film is based around caches of rare concert footage from Dylan's "born-again" era.
The film will showcase two performances by Dylan in Toronto and Buffalo from the final leg of his 1979-80 tour. Throughout the project, actor Michael Shannon will also deliver speeches written by writer/critic Luc Sente. The film is set to premiere October 2nd at the NYFF, and tickets for the debut go on sale from September 10th.
The film's timing coincides with the upcoming release of Trouble In Mind: Bob Dylan's Gospel Years — What Really Happened by Clinton Heylin, a book examining this controversial period in the musician's career. It is due out November 14th.
Though details surrounding the project remain scarce, a 13th installment of Dylan's Bootleg Series, which will include songs, outtakes and live recordings from this period are rumored to also be released later this year.
The new releases cap what is a very busy year in the world of Dylan — back in March, he released his 35th studio album, Triplicate. In a similar vein to his previous two records, the LP features more covers of classic American songs. He also finally accepted the Nobel Prize he was awarded months earlier, giving the necessary Nobel Lecture before a tour date in Stockholm back in June.
Dylan, who has aften to be assumed to be on an apparently never-ending tour, only has two more dates scheduled for this year. On October 13th, he will appear at Harrah's Resort SoCal in Valley Center, California, and, on October 14th, the artist will play at The Chelsea Theatre at The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
